AMSR-3 Webpage Notice

NOAA processes data from the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer in partnership with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). Based on the distribution date of AMSR-3 data from JAXA, NOAA did not have the standard 6 to 8 month overlap necessary for a seamless transition from AMSR2 to AMSR3. As per the announcement on July 2, 2026, AMSR2 products will be decommissioned and replaced by AMSR3 versions effective August 31, 2026. Although most product replacements are slated for August 31, a September 2026 data gap is expected for the NOAA AMSR-3 Ocean product suite, as we work to complete operational product validation and distribution. Further updates will be provided.
