The current AMSR-2 Day-1 products are generated by a set of fast, operationally oriented regression-based algorithms based partly on AMSR-E product heritage. The GCOM-W1 AMSR-2 Algorithm Software Processor (GAASP) takes the full orbital JAXA L1B data via NASA, applies brightness temperature bias corrections, assigns an RFI flag, performs internal reformatting, and then generates L2 products. The ocean products use a regression-based approach from the AMSR-E heritage, and the precipitation product uses the Goddard PROFiling algorithm (GPROF). These products include: SST, TPW, CLW, SSW, RR.
The details of all algorithms are described in the GAASP Algorithm Theoretical Basis Document (ATBD), which can be made available by either contacting the NOAA GCOM Project Scientist or GCOM Products Area Lead.
