THROUGH 2330Z October 7, 2026
SMOKE: Pacific Northwest... Scattered fires in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, northwestern Montana, and western Wyoming generated multiple light-to-heavy density smoke plumes drifting in various directions. Utah… The Salina Canyon East Rx Fire in central Utah produced a light-to-moderate density smoke plume drifting northwestward. U.S. Pacific Coast… A large layer of remnant light-density smoke was observed spanning over much of California and western Oregon before drifting southwestward into the Pacific Ocean. Saskatchewan… A fire in east-central Saskatchewan was observed generating light-to-moderate density smoke plume extending southeastward into Manitoba. Southeastern U.S… Many fires across the Southeastern U.S. generated individual smoke plumes of varying density, with moderate-to-heavy density smoke concentrated in the Lower Mississippi Valley. A band of light-density remnant smoke from previous day fire activity was observed extending east-northeastward from eastern Texas across the Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic states before dispersing into the Atlantic Ocean. Mexico... A broad area of light-density smoke was observed along the Pacific Coast of Mexico before extending westward into the Pacific Ocean. GL THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED. USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF THESE AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO THE SOURCE FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE: JPEG map: https://www.ospo.noaa.gov/data/land/fire/currenthms.jpg Smoke data: https://satepsanone.nesdis.noaa.gov/pub/FIRE/web/HMS/Smoke_Polygons Fire data: https://satepsanone.nesdis.noaa.gov/pub/FIRE/web/HMS/Fire_Points ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS REGARDING THIS PRODUCT SHOULD BE SENT TO: SSDFireTeam@noaa.gov
