SMOKE: Southwestern U.S… A layer of light-density smoke spread across the western United States, from coastal regions of northern California and Oregon, southern Idaho, Nevada, Utah, northern Arizona and New Mexico. Smoke moved mostly east, with some northern drift into eastern Wyoming and Colorado. Medium-density smoke concentrated in northern Nevada and Utah. California… A fire in southern California created medium-density smoke that spread and thinned into light-density smoke as it into the southern San Joaquin Valley. U.S. Atlantic coast… An area of light-density smoke drifted just offshore of the eastern United States which spread north from Florida’s Atlantic coast to the mid-Atlantic and southern New England before smoke drifted east into the Atlantic. Western and southern Mexico/Pacific Ocean/Gulf of America… An area of light-density smoke consisting of remnant smoke from previous days and smoke from industrial sources and fire activity spread across the northwestern coast of the mainland over the Gulf of California and southern Baja. Medium-density smoke concentrated around the Bay of Campeche and dispersed into the Gulf of America as well as overland to the south and west into the Pacific Ocean. Smoke in the Gulf of America followed the coast north reaching Texas and Louisiana, and east over the Yucatan and Cuba.
