DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1500Z June 8, 2026
SMOKE: Ontario-Quebec/Eastern US… A large area of light-density smoke from previous day fires in western Ontario could be seen dispersing eastward over central-northern Ontario and western Quebec this morning. A second plume also consisting of light smoke from the Canadian fires was found moving eastward over southwestern Virginia and North Carolina, extending for approximately 800 miles over the Atlantic ocean. Wyoming/South Dakota… Light smoke from the Tower fire in central Utah was dispersing over central-northeastern Wyoming and western South Dakota. Northwestern Mexico/New Mexico and Texas… Light smoke was seen dispersing northward along the Gulf of California reaching southern New Mexico and northwestern-northern Texas. DUST: Baja California… Blowing dust could be seen across multiple sites along the eastern coastline of Baja California, with plumes dispersing eastward over the Gulf of California. WS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
