DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1500Z March 25, 2026
SMOKE: Southeastern CONUS/Midwestern CONUS... Due to significant cloud coverage in the Midwestern and Southeastern United States this morning, very few individual smoke plumes were detected via satellite imagery. Despite the large amount of cloud cover, an area of light-density remnant smoke from yesterday’s agricultural fires was observed drifting southward into the Gulf of America. Florida… Agricultural fires located south of Lake Okeechobee were observed producing localized light-density smoke plumes. AEROSOL/SMOKE: Mexico/Central America... Smoke from fire activity, remnant smoke from previous days, and aerosol emissions from gas flaring and other industrial activities in central and southern Mexico spread as a layer of light density smoke that extended from the western Gulf of America, across the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, and along the southern coasts of Mexico and Central America before continuing westward over the Pacific. GL THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
