DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1600Z February 15, 2026
SMOKE: Florida… Agricultural fires south of Lake Okeechobee produced light-density smoke plumes this morning that moved northward within the state before becoming obscured by clouds. Cuba… Seasonal fire activity was observed across Cuba, producing a few light-density smoke plumes that moved northwest toward the Gulf of America and the Straits of Florida. AEROSOL/SMOKE: Mexico/Gulf of America/Pacific Ocean... Smoke from scattered fire activity, as well as industrial aerosol emissions and remnant smoke from previous days, concentrated into a layer of light-density smoke that extended southwestward off the Mexican and Guatemalan coasts into the Pacific Ocean. Smoke also stretched along the eastern coast of Mexico through the Isthmus of Tehuantepec and the Bay of Campeche, then moved northeast across the Gulf of America toward northern Florida. Hernandez THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
