DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Due to the current snow storm, the eastern half of CONUS is covered in clouds making it difficult to visibly detect smoke plumes in satellite imagery. Florida… Agricultural fires persisted south of Lake Okeechobee today and produced multiple individual plumes of light smoke. The plumes drifted north. AEROSOL/SMOKE: Mexico/Gulf of America/Pacific Ocean... Fire activity throughout southern Mexico mixed with aerosols from nearby urban and industrial sources produced an area of light-density smoke across the region. Smoke spread north along the eastern coast of Mexico, and southwest into the Pacific. Rodriguez THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
