DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Southeastern United States… Agricultural fires throughout the southeastern United States generated an area of light-density smoke which moved east from Louisiana across northern Florida and drifted offshore Atlantic. Many individual plumes were observed, concentrated in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Georgia. AEROSOL/SMOKE: Mexico… Fire activity in central Mexico, mixed with aerosols from urban and industrial activities, generated an area of light-density smoke centered along the south-central Pacific coast of Mexico. Mills THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
