DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Georgia… Many fires throughout Georgia created small plumes of light-density smoke that drifted eastward before dissipating. AEROSOL/SMOKE: Mexico… An area of light-density smoke was observed this evening that spanned from the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, southward into the Pacific Ocean, before it flowed northwestward along the coastline. The smoke may also be composed of aerosols from urban and industrial activity, mixed with residual emissions from scattered fire activity that occurred in the region yesterday. GM THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
