DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Southern Louisiana… Agricultural fires located in southern Louisiana were observed producing an area of light-to-moderate density smoke that drifted towards the south, extending into the northern Gulf of America. Florida… Individual fires throughout Florida were observed this evening, producing light-to-moderate density smoke that drifted towards the east. The light-density smoke plume produced by a fire in Nassau County extended off the coastline, dispersing into the Atlantic Ocean. Chihuahua… Fires located in northwestern Chihuahua produced light-to-moderate density smoke that drifted eastward. California… A fire located in San Luis Obispo County, California was observed producing light-to-moderate density smoke that remained in close vicinity to the source. AEROSOL/SMOKE: Mexico... An area of light-density smoke consisting of aerosols from urban and industrial activity, mixed with emissions from scattered fire activity in the region persisted across the Mexican Coastal Plain and the Gulf, with some spread south into the Pacific Ocean off the western and southern coastline of Mexico. GL THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
