DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Gulf Coast United States… Agricultural burning and remnant smoke generated an area of light-density smoke observed in the northwestern Gulf, which spread to the east from south Texas and Louisiana towards Florida and dispersed northeast into the Atlantic. Few individual plumes were observed in Louisiana and northern Florida. AEROSOL/SMOKE: Mexico… An area of light-density smoke consisting of aerosols from urban/industrial activity mixed with emissions from scattered fire activity across Mexico spread from the Yucatan south into the Pacific and dispersed to the northwest along the Mexican coast. Mills THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
