DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0000Z December 7, 2025
SMOKE: Southern Florida… Multiple agricultural fires south of Lake Okeechobee, Florida were observed which generated light density smoke plumes that drifted northeast. Arizona… A fire in the Apache National Forest near the eastern border of Arizona. The mostly light density smoke plume was emitting towards the southeast into New Mexico. South Ontario… There was a cluster of fires in southern Ontario that was emitting light to medium smoke towards the east. Blowing Dust… Blowing dust was seen in northern Texas. AEROSOL/SMOKE: Mexico... An area of light-density smoke consisting of aerosols from urban/industrial activity mixed with emissions from scattered fire activity in the region spread from southern Mexico north into the Gulf and followed the coastal area to the northeast. Some dispersion of light smoke was also observed moving west into the Pacific and lingering along the southern coast. Rodriguez THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED. USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF THESE AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO THE SOURCE FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE: JPEG:http://www.ospo.noaa.gov/data/land/fire/currenthms.jpg Smoke data: https://satepsanone.nesdis.noaa.gov/pub/FIRE/web/HMS/Smoke_Polygons Fire data: https://satepsanone.nesdis.noaa.gov/pub/FIRE/web/HMS/Fire_Points ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS REGARDING THIS PRODUCT SHOULD BE SENT TO: SSDFireTeam@noaa.gov
