DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1600Z November 22, 2025
SMOKE: South Florida… A small handful of smoke-producing agricultural burns were observed with smoke moving west to southwest. AEROSOL/SMOKE: Mexico/Pacific Ocean… An area of light-density smoke, consisting primarily of aerosols from gas flaring and other urban industrial activity across Mexico, mixed with additional emissions from scattered fire activity in the region and remnant smoke from previous days, was observed blanketing an area from the Gulf Coast to the Tropical Eastern Pacific. The thickest smoke/aerosol was observed along the Gulf coastal plain of Mexico and the southern coast of Mexico from the Gulf of Tehuantepec to Puerto Vallarta and offshore. The northern extent of this region is limited by a frontal passage along the southern CONUS. Also noted is a Tehuantepecer wind event that is moving the smoke/aerosol south to the open tropical eastern Pacific. Hosley THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
