DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Alabama… A fire in central Alabama created an area of light to moderate density smoke that drifted Southwest into eastern Mississippi. Eastern United States… The eastern United States continued agricultural burning this morning, plumes of light smoke were observed from east Texas to the Carolinas, and through the Mississippi Valley up to Missouri. A band of light-density smoke formed across the Gulf states, drifting east into the Atlantic and south along the coast into Mexico. AEROSOL/SMOKE: Mexico/Pacific Ocean… An area of light-density smoke in central Mexico mixed with additional emissions from the United States and spread west into the Pacific Ocean. Meyer THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
