DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0000Z November 11, 2025
SMOKE: Alberta/Saskatchewan… A large area of light-density smoke was observed over central Alberta and south-central Saskatchewan, originating from widespread agricultural fires. The smoke plume tracked eastward into Manitoba before being obscured by clouds. Southeastern Texas/Southern Louisiana… Agricultural fires were active this evening across southeastern Texas and southern Louisiana. A fire in Jefferson County, Texas, and Vernon Parish, Louisiana, produced small plumes of moderate-density smoke that tracked southward. All other agricultural burning produced light-density smoke plumes that extended south into the Gulf of America. Arizona… Fires were active this evening across the Arizona counties of Navajo, Apache, Gila, and Coconino. These fires produced moderate-to-heavy smoke that dispersed locally before tracking both southwest and northeast into neighboring counties. AEROSOL/SMOKE: Mexico/Pacific Ocean… An area of light-density smoke, consisting primarily of aerosols from gas flaring and other urban/industrial activity across Mexico, mixed with additional emissions from scattered fire activity in the region, was observed dispersing into the Pacific Ocean off the southern and western coastline of Mexico. Hernandez THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED. USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF THESE AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO THE SOURCE FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE: JPEG:http://www.ospo.noaa.gov/data/land/fire/currenthms.jpg Smoke data: https://satepsanone.nesdis.noaa.gov/pub/FIRE/web/HMS/Smoke_Polygons Fire data: https://satepsanone.nesdis.noaa.gov/pub/FIRE/web/HMS/Fire_Points ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS REGARDING THIS PRODUCT SHOULD BE SENT TO: SSDFireTeam@noaa.gov
