DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0110Z November 08, 2025

SMOKE:
Arizona...
The wildfires within the Sitgreaves National Forest and the Fort Apache
Reservation remained active this evening and were observed producing
light-to-moderate density smoke drifting to the east.

Lower Mississippi Valley/Southeastern U.S./Gulf of America/Atlantic
Ocean...
A large area of light-density smoke from agricultural fires was observed
this evening, extending from southern Louisiana eastward across the
southern United States and the Gulf of America, ultimately reaching the
Atlantic Ocean off the coast of South Carolina.

AEROSOL/SMOKE:
Mexico/Gulf of America/Pacific Ocean...
An area of light-density smoke, consisting primarily of aerosols from gas
flaring and other urban/industrial activity across Mexico, mixed with
additional emissions from scattered fire activity in the region, was
observed dispersing into the Pacific Ocean off the southern and western
coastline of Mexico, the Bay of Campeche, and the western Gulf of America.

THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF
SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED
FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE,
TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE
ALSO DESCRIBED. USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF THESE
AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO THE SOURCE
FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE:

  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
