DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 2330Z October 23, 2025
SMOKE: Southeastern United States/Gulf of America/Atlantic Ocean… An area of light smoke was observed this evening with an eastward trajectory, originating from eastern Texas and tracking toward the Gulf of America and across the lower Southeastern United States. The smoke moved across Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida before dispersing into the Atlantic Ocean. Ongoing agricultural burning observed in eastern Arkansas moved south into Louisiana, ultimately merging with the smoke in the lower Southeastern United States. Mexico… An area of light density smoke was observed this evening stemming from industrial sources in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec and fires occurring along the Southern Sierra Madre mountains. The smoke moved southward into the Pacific Ocean. Hernandez THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
