DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1500Z October 23, 2025
SMOKE: U.S. Southeast/Gulf of America/Atlantic Ocean… An area of light smoke was observed this morning moving eastward from Texas into the Gulf, continuing east across Florida, and tracking northeast, dispersing into the Atlantic Ocean. Ongoing agricultural burns in the southeast region likely contributed to the layer of light density smoke. Mexico… An area of light density smoke was observed this morning stemming from industrial sources in the isthmus of Tehuantepec, moving southward into the Pacific Ocean. GM THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
