DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 2330Z October 13, 2025
SMOKE: Southeastern United States… Various light density smoke plumes were observed this evening throughout the Lower Mississippi Valley and southeastern United States. These small plumes from agricultural fires contributed to the larger light smoke coverage in the region, which extended from east Texas to western Florida with some spread offshore into the Gulf. The Dakotas… There was fire activity seen over the Dakotas. Due to cloud coverage, smoke plumes were not visible in South Dakota but small light density smoke plumes were seen in North Dakota. Blowing Dust… Blowing dust was seen over the California and Tijuana, MX border blowing east towards Arizona. AEROSOL/SMOKE: Southern Mexico... Light-to-moderate smoke and aerosols concentrated between the Yucatan and mainland Mexico were observed this evening, extending from the Gulf to the Pacific across Chiapas and Tabasco. Rodriguez THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
