THROUGH 2330Z October 6, 2025
SMOKE: Northwest Territories... Wildfires were active this evening in the Northwest Territories, specifically localized to the west and north side of the Great Slave Lake. While the western fires were obscured by heavy cloud cover, The northern fires produced light smoke that was observed dispersing north within the Northern Territories before it was obscured by heavy cloud cover as well. Great Lakes/Northeastern US/Eastern Canada/Labrador Sea/Atlantic Ocean... A large area of very light density smoke could be seen this evening extending eastward across the Great Lakes region and the Northeastern United States before moving farther northeast towards southern Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Labrador, and finally reaching the Labrador Sea. Additional smoke extended southward into the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Nova Scotia. Mexico/Gulf of America... Light-to-moderate smoke was observed moving west towards the eastern coast of Mexico from the Gulf of America. Central Washington/Northwestern Oregon... The Labor Mountain fire in Chelan County and the Wildcat fire in Yakima County produced moderate-to-heavy smoke concentrated near the fire source. Light smoke from these fires was also observed moving west towards the coast of Washington, then extending out over the Pacific Ocean. Additional light-to-moderate smoke was also observed being produced by the wildfire in northwestern Oregon, merging with the light smoke from the fires in central Washington as it extended out over the Pacific Ocean. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED. USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF THESE AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO THE SOURCE FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE: JPEG:http://www.ospo.noaa.gov/data/land/fire/currenthms.jpg Smoke data: https://satepsanone.nesdis.noaa.gov/pub/FIRE/web/HMS/Smoke_Polygons Fire data: https://satepsanone.nesdis.noaa.gov/pub/FIRE/web/HMS/Fire_Points ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS REGARDING THIS PRODUCT SHOULD BE SENT TO: SSDFireTeam@noaa.gov
