SMOKE: Northwest Territories... Wildfires were active this morning in the Northwest Territories, specifically localized to the west side of the Great Slave Lake. The fires produced heavy smoke which concentrated near the fire source. Additional moderate-to-light smoke was observed dispersing north and east within the Northern Territories from these fires. Lower Great Plains/US Midwest/Northeastern US/Eastern Canada/Atlantic Ocean... A large area of very light density smoke could be seen this morning extending northward and then eastward from the Lower Great Plains. The smoke reached the US Midwest and Great Lakes Region before moving farther northeast towards New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and finally reaching the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of the Northeastern United States. Mexico/Gulf of America... Moderate smoke was observed moving northeast from the Bay of Campeche into the Gulf of America. Central Washington... The Labor Mountain fire in Chelan County and the Wildcat fire in Yakima County produced heavy smoke concentrated near the fire source. Moderate-to-light smoke from these fires was also observed moving west towards the coast of Washington, then extending out over the Pacific Ocean.
