DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1430Z September 18, 2025
SMOKE: Canada, Southeastern and Northeastern United States.. Wildfires continued to burn across Canada and western United States. Moderate-to-heavy smoke from fires in north-central Alberta and the southern region of the Northern Territories was observed dispersing further north into Nunavut. A large light smoke plume from these fires extends from the Northwest Territories through Alberta, and Saskatchewan, and is observed reaching south into the southeastern United States and east towards the northeastern United States. While fires in western Canada remain active, their scale is significantly less than what was observed in previous weeks. Washington State⦠An area of light-to-moderate density smoke extended north from the large wildfire over the Olympic Peninsula in Washington, merging into the smoke plumes observed in southern and eastern British Columbia and northern Alberta. Hernandez THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
