DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1550Z September 16, 2025
SMOKE: Central and Eastern United States and Southern Canada…. The combination of continued wildfires over western Canada, although to much a lesser extent than what was seen a few weeks back, and also over the western United States was producing a large area of light to moderate density smoke that was extending across all of southern Canada and the northern portion of the United State and into the North Atlantic Ocean. A portion of that area of smoke was also being drawn southeast into the Central and Eastern United States and also extending offshore of the Southeast United States. Within this large area of smoke, a few areas of moderate density smoke were seen over portions of central Quebec extending southwest into southern Michigan and also from central and southern Saskatchewan extending southwest into northern Montana. Hanna THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
