DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1430Z September 12, 2025
SMOKE: South-Central Canada/Pacific Northwest... Wildfires remained active across parts of southern and northeastern British Columbia, southern Northwest Territories, northern Alberta, central-western Saskatchewan and central-northern Washington, with moderate-to-heavy density smoke observed along southeastern British Columbia, western-central Alberta, northwestern Saskatchewan, and central-eastern Washington and northern Oregon. The larger plume could be seen dispersing towards the east, with light density smoke extending over most of Manitoba and further into northern Ontario. Mississippi Valley/Southeastern U.S... Remnant light-density smoke from previous day agricultural burning along the Mississippi Valley and the Southeastern U.S. was covering the majority of those regions this morning, and expanding to the south over the northern Gulf of America and to the east over the Mid-Atlantic states. WS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
