DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1430Z September 9, 2025

SMOKE:
Western Canada/Pacific Northwest...
Wildfires persisted throughout western Canada and the northwestern
United States.
Moderate smoke was observed this morning moving east from British Columbia
and south from the Northwest Territories into Alberta and Northern
United States. Lighter Density smoke extends further out into southern
Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario, continuing eastward into Quebec
and New England. Additional light smoke from previous day agricultural
burning across the Mississippi Valley and Southeastern United States is
seen merging with the light smoke from the Canadian wildfires.


California…
The Garnet fire in California remained active this morning. This fire
produced a localized light-to-moderate density smoke plume which was
seen dispersing north towards Madera County.

SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED
FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE,
TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE
ALSO DESCRIBED. USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF THESE
AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO THE SOURCE
FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE:
