DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0106Z September 1, 2025
SMOKE: Western and Central Canada/Midwestern United States... Wildfires continued to burn in the central Yukon, across central and southern Northwest Territories, southern and northeastern British Columbia, central and northeastern Alberta, northern Saskatchewan, as well as central Manitoba. Fires in the Northwest Territories were particularly active producing moderate-to-heavy smoke which blanketed the southern half of that province, northeastern British Columbia, northern Alberta, northern Saskatchewan, northern Manitoba, southern Nunavut, and northern Ontario as it dispersed east over the Hudson Bay. Localized moderate-to-heavy density smoke was also seen close to the wildfires in southern British Columbia. Light smoke was also seen dispersing towards the southeast over the Midwestern United States. Western United States... Wildfires in central and northern California, west-central Oregon, western and northeastern Washington, and central Idaho continued to produce localized moderate-to-heavy smoke that were concentrated near the fire sources. Light smoke spread across the northern Rockies, the Pacific Northwest, Southern California, and the Pacific Coast. YL THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
