SMOKE: Canada... Wildfires in the Northwest Territories continued to generate a large area of light to moderately dense smoke seen in satellite over much of the central/eastern sections of the Northwest Territories, much of Nunavut, northern/central Alberta and Saskatchewan. Cloud cover does obscure the view over parts of Manitoba, southeastern sections of Nunavut and the Hudson Bay region where there could be additional smoke. Northwest US, Rocky Mountains, Central US, Ohio Valley, Great Lakes Region, Mississippi, Tennessee and Ohio Vallies, and into northern Mid-Atlantic... Wildfires continued in northern Nevada, Idaho, western Montana and Wyoming which generated a large area of light smoke that extended from parts of central/eastern Washington and Oregon, into Idaho and eastward to the Great Lakes region. Then, residual smoke can be seen from eastern New Mexico, into Texas, the Mississippi Valley, northeast into Kentucky, West Virginia, northwest Virginia, western Maryland and into western Pennsylvania. Thicker density smoke plumes were seen moving east from the fires in Idaho and Montana. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED. USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF THESE AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO THE SOURCE FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE: JPEG:http://www.ospo.noaa.gov/data/land/fire/currenthms.jpg Smoke data: https://satepsanone.nesdis.noaa.gov/pub/FIRE/web/HMS/Smoke_Polygons Fire data: https://satepsanone.nesdis.noaa.gov/pub/FIRE/web/HMS/Fire_Points ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS REGARDING THIS PRODUCT SHOULD BE SENT TO: SSDFireTeam@noaa.gov
