DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 2330Z August 20, 2025
SMOKE: Canada... Wildfires remained active in the central and southern Northwest Territories, producing light to moderate density smoke that covered much of northern Canada and extended east towards Nunavut, northern Manitoba, and the Hudson Bay. Western CONUS/Central CONUS/South Central Canada/Gulf of America... Wildfires in the western United States remained active, including those in northern Nevada, central Wyoming, central Idaho, western Montana, northeastern Utah, and western Colorado. Moderate to heavy density smoke was observed near the fires. Smoke with the heaviest density were concentrated in central Idaho, western Colorado, and northern Nevada. Light-to-moderate density smoke dispersed north into south-central Canada and spread south into the northern Gulf of America. Florida... A large wildfire in the Everglades and the Francis S. Taylor Wildlife Management Area was observed producing light-to-moderate density smoke drifting southeast across the Atlantic Ocean and towards The Bahamas. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
