DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1420Z August 14, 2025
SMOKE: Northwest Territories/Northern Atlantic... Wildfires continued to burn across southeastern Northwest Territories, releasing light to heavy density smoke moving west towards Yukon and British Columbia with moderate-to-heavy smoke concentrated in south-central Northwest Territories, northeastern British Columbia, and northwestern Alberta. Additionally, the large wildfire in Newfoundland remained active and producing moderate smoke that merged with the light-to-moderate smoke blanketing the north Atlantic as it circulates east towards Europe. British Columbia/Washington State/Montana/Wyoming... The wildfire located in Vancouver Island was seen emitting light-to-moderate smoke that dispersed eastward over southwestern British Columbia and northwestern Washington State. Wildfires in southeastern Montana and north-central Wyoming were also observed producing light smoke . Southwestern CONUS... Wildfires in southwestern CONUS remained active this evening, including the Gifford Fire in southern California; the Monroe Canyon Fire in central Utah; the Beulah Fire in northern Utah; the Dragon Bravo Fire in northern Arizona; The Billy, Bronco, and Indian Creek Fires in southeastern Arizona; the Lee Fire and the Elk RBX Fire in northwestern Colorado; and the Turner Gulch Fire and the Stoner Mesa Fire in southwestern Colorado. Moderate-to-heavy smoke was observed near the sources. DUST: Caribbean... Light-to-moderate dust from the Saharan Desert was observed moving westward towards the Caribbean. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
