DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1650Z July 27, 2025
SMOKE: Alaska/Canada/Northeast United States/Atlantic Ocean... Wildfires continued to burn across northeastern Alaska, and northwestern and central Canada, with widespread smoke covering northern Alaska, large parts of northwestern and central Canada, the northeastern United States, and portions of the North Atlantic Ocean. Areas of higher smoke concentration were observed moving eastward across central Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, and southern Hudson Bay. Arizona/Utah/California... The Dragon Bravo Fire on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon National Park and the Monroe Canyon Fire in the south-central Utah continued to burn this morning and generated heavy density smoke drifting to the northeast. The Orleans Complex Fire in northern California remained active with light to moderate smoke accumulating near the source. DUST: Tropical Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea... An area of Saharan dust was observed over parts of the tropical Atlantic Ocean, expanding west into the Caribbean Sea. YL THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
