DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Alaska/Canada/North-Central United States/Atlantic Ocean... Wildfires continued to burn in eastern Alaska/Yukon, and central Canada, with widespread smoke observed across Alaska, most of Canada and extending east towards the Atlantic, north into the Arctic, and south over the Great Plains and towards parts of western Texas and northern Mexico. Higher density smoke plumes are concentrated in much of central Canada, specifically located in northern Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and extending as far east as Quebec and Newfoundland and Labrador this evening. Western U.S... More than a dozen wildfires were observed across the western U.S., from Washington State to New Mexico. The thickest smoke producers were wildfires across northern California, southern Washington, northern Oregon, east-central and southwestern Idaho. The smoke spread generally to the northeast and merged with smoke from the Canadian fires. DUST: Tropical Atlantic and Caribbean Sea... An area of Saharan dust was observed over the eastern Caribbean and tropical Atlantic. YL THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
