DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1440Z July 17, 2025
SMOKE: Alaska/Canada/North-Central United States/Atlantic Ocean... Wildfires continued to burn across northwestern and central Canada, with widespread smoke covering the Northwest Territories, large parts of central and eastern Canada, and the southern half of Hudson Bay. Areas of higher smoke concentration were observed moving eastward across central Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario. Western U.S... Wildfires in central Oregon, northern California, Idaho, southern Nevada, southern Utah, and northern Arizona were observed producing light density smoke that drifted eastward towards the upper Midwest. Mexico/Pacific Ocean... An area of light density smoke was observed flowing from fires across the Yucatán, moving south toward the Pacific Ocean off Mexico’s southern coastline. Ferrante THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
