DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 2330Z March 31, 2025

SMOKE:
Central Plains/Upper Mississippi Valley...
Several light density plumes emanating from scattered fire activity
throughout the Central Plains and the Upper Mississippi Valley were seen
blowing generally southwestern in direction, with a large concentration
of these plumes located in eastern Iowa and eastern Kansas.

No other areas of significant smoke were observed this evening due to
heavy widespread cloud cover across the HMS geographic domain.

AEROSOL/SMOKE:
Central and Southern Mexico/Pacific Ocean/Gulf of America/Bay of
Campeche/Gulf Coast...
An area of predominantly light density smoke and aerosols attributed to
scattered agricultural burning, volcanic emissions, and industrial sources
throughout Central and Southern Mexico, was observed this evening along
the southwestern coast of Mexico before dispersing west over the Pacific
Ocean near the southern tip of Mexico and northern Central America. It
was then seen extending east over the southern portion of the Gulf States
and into the west coast of Florida.

THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF
SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED
FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE,
TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE
ALSO DESCRIBED.  USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF THESE
AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO THE SOURCE
FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE:
