DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Western United States/Northwestern Mexico... A large area of light density smoke was observed this evening moving southeast from central California and the Pacific across Arizona, New Mexico, and Baja. The smoke then drifted north into the Rockies before being obscured by cloud cover. Pacific Ocean/Mexico/Gulf of America/Central United States… A large area of light density smoke was observed moving north from the Pacific Ocean over southern Mexico, the Yucatan, and Gulf coast. The smoke continued north over Texas and into the central United States before being obscured by cloud cover. Multiple plumes of light to medium density smoke were seen moving east from fires along the west coast of Mexico, and north from the Yucatan and central Mexico into the Gulf. Mills THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
