DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Southern United States... Numerous light density smoke plumes produced from seasonal fire activity and agricultural burning were observed across southern United States. The smoke plumes west of the Mississippi river in states of Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana were observed moving northeast while smoke plumes east of the river in states of Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia were observed moving southeastward. In addition a notable patch of light density smoke produced from the combination of numerous nearby burnings was observed extending from southern Georgia to northern Florida. AEROSOL/SMOKE: Central and Southern Mexico/Pacific Ocean/Gulf of America/Bay of Campeche... An area of predominantly light density smoke and aerosols, attributed to scattered agricultural burning, volcanic emissions, and industrial sources throughout Central and Southern Mexico was observed this evening along the southwestern coast of Mexico near northern Central America. It was then seen extending west into the Pacific Ocean and east into the southern Gulf of America near the Bay of Campeche. Nguyen THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
