DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Southeastern & Central United States/Atlantic Ocean Moderate seasonal burning was seen throughout the central and southeastern United States. An area of light density smoke with some moderate to locally thick density plumes was visible stretching from Oklahoma east through the Gulf states where it continued east and north through the Carolina's, Southern Virginia and continues off the coast over the Atlantic Ocean. The thickest areas of smoke were seen through Arkansas, Oklahoma, Mississippi and Louisiana. AEROSOL/SMOKE: Central-Southern Mexico/Gulf of America/Bay of Campeche/Pacific Ocean... A large area of predominantly light smoke and aerosols attributed to scattered agricultural burning, volcanic emissions, and industrial sources throughout central and southern Mexico was observed this morning along Mexico’s central and southern Pacific coasts, western Gulf of America, and Bay of Campeche. Eglin THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
