DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Florida… Agricultural burning south of Lake Okeechobee was observed producing an area of light density smoke around southern Florida that was observed generally spreading out in all directions. At least one fire in the mixture was releasing moderate to thick smoke. Louisiana... Seasonal burning was seen in southwestern Louisiana today creating an area of light density smoke moving northeast as night approached. At least one fire in the mixture was releasing moderate smoke. Arizona... An plume of light density smoke from a new fire in southeastern Arizona was extending south into Mexico as evening approached. AEROSOL/SMOKE: Central and Southern Mexico/Pacific Ocean/Gulf of Mexico... An area of predominantly light density smoke and aerosols attributed to scattered agricultural burning, volcanic emissions and industrial sources throughout Central and Southern Mexico was observed today along Mexico’s Central and Southern Pacific coasts, extending west into Pacific Ocean and in the western and central parts of the Gulf of Mexico. Eglin THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
