SMOKE: United States-Mexico Border/Baja California... The two large wildfires in Baja California, Mexico, continued to burn actively during the afternoon and evening hours. A substantial amount of moderate to thick-density smoke was observed moving northeast with the weather system. Additionally, a large area of light-density smoke was seen engulfing the coasts of California and Baja California, extending well into the Pacific Ocean. Mississippi/Alabama... Agricultural fires in southern and central Mississippi, as well as southwestern Alabama, were observed producing light-density smoke moving to the northeast. Florida... Agricultural fires in southern Florida and the Lake Okeechobee area were observed producing light-density smoke plumes that were moving quickly to the west/southwest. AEROSOL/SMOKE: Central and Southern Mexico/Pacific Ocean... An area of predominantly light density smoke and aerosols attributed to scattered agricultural burning, volcanic emissions and industrial sources throughout Central and Southern Mexico was observed today along Mexico’s Central and Southern Pacific Coasts, extending west into Pacific Ocean.
