DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Southern California/Los Angeles County/Pacific Ocean... A mix of light to heavy density smoke was observed today in Southern California and the southern Pacific Coast as a result of the destructive and extremely fast spreading wildfires located in Los Angeles County. The majority of the smoke from these fires is blowing southwest from their origins towards the Pacific Coast and is being carried further south towards the Pacific Ocean off the coast of the Baja Peninsula. The larger Palisades and Eaton wildfires were also seen intensifying as evening approached. Florida... Agricultural fires near and south of Lake Okeechobee were observed producing light density smoke plumes moving quickly to the northwest. Eglin THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
