DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Southeastern United States: In the southeastern United States very light agricultural burning was detected creating a few light density smoke plumes. The majority of these smoke plumes were located in southern Louisiana where the smoke combined into an area of light density smoke moving generally south into the coastal Gulf of Mexico. AEROSOL/SMOKE: Central and Southern Mexico/Gulf of Mexico/Bay of Campeche... An area of predominantly light density smoke and aerosols attributed to scattered agricultural burning, volcanic emissions and industrial sources throughout Central and Southern Mexico was observed this evening extending along the coast of southern Mexico and through the Bay of Campeche and into the Western Gulf of Mexico. Eglin THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
