Details/Specifics of Change:
The Satellite Operations Control Center (SOCC) issued the following notice:
On 15 October 2003, around 1615 UTC, the NOAA-15 spacecraft will be
commanded to operate in Yaw Gyro Compassing (YGC) attitude control mode
instead of normal attitude control mode. This will last through three
orbits, after which it will be commanded back to normal attitude mode around
1937 UTC. This will be done to provide baseline information on YGC
performance in support of future reduced gyro (RGYO) testing. YGC mode will
be used during the RGYO testing.
Reduction in Yaw pointing precision may occur while in YGC mode. Users may
see a slight change in the accuracy of geolocations while operating in YGC
mode.
