Topic:
Visible calibration coefficient update - message correction
Date/Time(UTC) Message Issued:
14 July 2004 1230 UTC
Satellite(s) Involved:
NOAA-16 and NOAA-17
Instrument(s) Involved:
NOAA-16 and 17 AVHRR
Product(s) Involved/Affected:
AVHRR channels 1 and 2 for NOAA-16
AVHRR channels 1,2, and 3 for NOAA-17
Date/Time(UTC) of Initial Implementation:
13 July 2004 1712 UTC - NOAA-17
13 July 2004 1742 UTC - NOAA-16
Details/Specifics of Change:
The message issued on 13 July indicated "count<" for the high slope counts,
when it should have shown "count>" for each channel.
July Update:
NOAA-16 AVHRR
Ch_1_lo = 0.05342*count - 2.060, count<498.96
Ch_1_hi = 0.1559*count - 52.99, count>498.96
Ch_2_lo = 0.05773*count - 2.181, count<500.16
Ch_2_hi = 0.1701*count - 58.38, count>500.16
NOAA-17 AVHRR
Ch_1_lo = 0.05428*count - 2.172, count<501.12
Ch_1_hi = 0.1594*count - 54.82, count>501.12
Ch_2_lo = 0.06567*count - 2.578, count<500.73
Ch_2_hi = 0.1955*count - 67.68, count>500.73
Ch_3_lo = 0.03097*count - 1.305, count<501.37
Ch_3_hi = 0.2171*count - 94.78, count>501.37
These coefficients are intended to be optimal on July 27, in the middle of
the two scheduled updates.
