Details/Specifics of Change:
SOCC has announced plans for testing reduced gyro software next week.
Attached is PDF file containing an information extracted from the procedure
memo issued by SOCC that addresses the procedure to be followed, identifies
the orbits and times for testing over the 4 day period, and identifies the
impact to user community. Below is a general description of what will
occur.
"During the week of April 19th, NOAA-15 is being used to test reduced gyro
software that is installed on all NOAA-KLM spacecraft. The test exercises 5
modes of operation, testing each type of control mode. We are performing
the test in case the gyros on this series of spacecraft degrade to such a
point where one axis of control must be estimated. This will happen if we
lose another gyro on NOAA-15 for instance. ...
... we are testing the attitude software, so there may be pointing errors
during the test."
