REPORT DATE: 03-05-2026 REPORT TIME: 0400 UTC REGION: GULF OF AMERICA SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: SHIP SHOAL 43 IMAGE DATE: 03-05-2026 IMAGE TIME: 0010 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL1A MODE: Interferometric Wide (IW) VV RESOLUTION: 5X20 meter LOCATION: 29°02'54" N/90°47'02" W AREA: 17.92 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: High REPORT MAP/GIS FILES: https://www.ospo.noaa.gov/products/ocean/marinepollution/ REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly was believed to be associated with NOAA Response Link Hotline #11125 and NRC Report #1456377, which reported a sheen near Pelican Bayou and Whiskey Pass, Louisiana. The anomaly was fragmented into several distinct patches, forming unnatural shapes that contrasted with the surrounding ocean. The overall length of the anomaly, including all fragmented pieces, measured approximately 16.50 NM, and one of the widest fragments measured approximately 0.61 NM across. At the time of the image, winds were coming from the SE at 10kts. UNCERTAINTIES: The source is unknown; however, the association with NOAA Response Link Hotline #11125 was made based on previous reports in the area showing the oil drifting WNW from the original spill source.
