REPORT DATE: 07-03-2024 REPORT TIME: 0330 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: SOUTH PASS SP0001 IMAGE DATE: 07-02-2024 IMAGE TIME: 2346 UTC DATA SOURCE: RADARSAT2 MODE: ScanSAR Narrow VV RESOLUTION: 25 meter LOCATION: 29°13'04" N/89°00'07" W AREA: 7.90 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: High REPORT MAP/GIS FILES: https://www.ospo.noaa.gov/Products/ocean/marinepollution/ REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The fragmented slick was believed to be associated with Hotline #10809 and NRC #1403457. As a whole, both slicks were approximately 9.55 nm long and approx. 0.63 nm wide. The dark colored slicks were distinguishable enough from natural phenomena in the area and had strong contrast against the ocean background. Winds near the time of the image were coming from the S at 9 kts. UNCERTAINTIES: There were various false positives in the vicinity which made it difficult to determine the anomaly's full extent.
