REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The possible oil appeared to emanate from the site of Wreck 1487, a known repeat leak source, and extended northwestward and westward for approximately 7.2 nmi, and was up to approximately 0.22 nmi in width. The anomaly had a dark appearance against its background with some silvery-white areas, denoting possible thicker oil, in portions of the anomaly. Winds at the time of the image were around 3 kts from the ENE.

UNCERTAINTIES: False positives could be seen in close proximity to the anomaly, and may have mixed with it in places. Thus, some portions of the anomaly may have been natural phenomena instead of oil. Still, the analyzed thicker oil areas were distinct in appearance from the false positives, and the repeat leak nature of the suspected source also allowed for high confidence that this was oil.
