Details: Planned network maintenance to validate automatic failover between the two NCCF firewalls. Failover between the firewalls currently requires manual intervention; this change allows the standby firewall to assume traffic automatically if the primary fails.
During the validation step, one of the two NCCF firewalls will be taken out of service so that traffic can be confirmed to move automatically to the second firewall. Traffic will then be validated and the firewall returned to service.
EXPECTED INTERRUPTION: 5 to 10 minutes, occurring once or potentially twice, beginning at approximately 1500Z. NCCF products traversing the affected path will be briefly unreachable. Sessions in progress may need to be re-established. No data loss is expected.
MAINTENANCE WINDOW: The engineering work will occur within a maintenance window of 09/09/2026 1500Z to 1700Z. Outside of the 5 to 10 minute interruption described above, no impact to NCCF products is expected at any point during that window. The window is reserved engineering time, not an outage duration.
ALERTS AND TICKETS: Monitoring will generate connectivity and reachability alerts for NCCF products during the interruption, and automated tickets may be created. NCCF Operations and the Help Desk may attribute these alerts to this notification and close resulting tickets once alerts clear. No escalation or callout is required for alerts that clear within the stated period. If alerts persist beyond 1700Z , or a service issue is reported after that time, contact ESPC Operations.
SCOPE: NCCF products only. No other ESPC systems or product lines are in scope for this change.
A completion notice will be issued when maintenance is complete and NCCF products are confirmed operating normally.
