Update #1: As of July 30, 2026 at 1945 UTC, all S-NPP OMPS Nadir Profiler (NP) SDR and EDR products (V9Pro NetCDF & BUFR formats) have been promoted back to *Operational* status, and PDA OPS subscriptions are now active. Direct Broadcast (DB) users can utilize equivalent CSPP LEO products for operational processing. Following SDR and EDR Table promotions to production, deployed on July 22, 2026, users should expect layer-dependent variations (within *± 1%*) in V8Pro ozone profile EDRs compared to retrievals processed prior to July 22, 2026.  There are no changes in the files with this update.

Topic: Upgrade of the Solar tables for Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership (S-NPP) Ozone Mapping and Profiler Suite Nadir Profiler Sensor Data Record (OMPS NP SDR)

Date/Time Issued: July 31, 2026 1402 UTC

Product(s) or Data Impacted: V8Pro (OMPS NP) SDR and EDR (Environmental Data Records)

Date/Time Initial Impact: TBD (Late next week)

Date/Time of Expected End: N/A

Length of Outage: NA

Details/Specifics:

Following the S-NPP Safehold Event on July 10th, the OMPS Team is utilizing the current gap in OMPS NP SDR and V8Pro EDR product availability to deploy an upgraded methodology for the biweekly solar tables. This new approach adjusts the solar irradiance spectra to simultaneously account for instrument throughput calibration variations and solar activity. Once product distribution is fully restored, these new spectra will yield more accurate radiance-to-irradiance measurement ratios.

As a result of these enhancements, users will observe small (±1%) layer-dependent variations in the V8Pro ozone profile EDRs relative to retrievals from before the event.

This update is slated for promotion to PROD on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, and will become effective when S-NPP OMPS Nadir Profiler data availability resumes late next week.
