Update #2: Engineering completed NOAA-21 VIIRS recovery efforts at 18:20:50 UTC on July 29, 2026. The NOAA-21 VIIRS Radiance Cluster and CrIS BUFR have returned to normal. NOAA 21 ACSPO SST will recover sometime later.  Expected end time is updated below. 
Update #1: Engineering will start NOAA-21 VIIRS recovery operations July 29 at 16:36 UTC to resolve the issue, which is erroneously flagging good NOAA-21 VIIRS M14-M16 and I5 Long Wave Infrared (LWIR) data for poor quality. The procedure may take a few contacts, with the expected completion at 20:10 UTC on July 29. Users may experience NOAA-21 VIIRS science data outage during the time. Any missed data during this recovery period is expected to be unrecoverable. Expected end time added below.

Details/Specifics: Starting 0542Z on July 28, NOAA-21 ACSPO SST and VIIRS Radiance Cluster produced products without meaningful retrievals. The VIIRS Radiance Cluster within NOAA-21 CrIS SDR BUFR are all fill values. This issue impacted the same products on Community Satellite Processing Package (CSPP). Investigation is ongoing.
